After having been transferred from New Caledonia to Sydney, KOBAYASHI was sent to Loveday on 28 February 1942. He was admitted to the 64 Camp Hospital repeatedly during October - November 1944 for abdominal pains, and again in June 1945. He was transferred to 121 Australian General Hospital on 14 June 1945, and back to the 64 Camp Hospital. He was placed on the 'Seriously Ill' list on 28 September 1945 and on the 'Dangerously Ill' list on 6 October 1945.
