After having been transferred from New Caledonia, AKAMINE was sent to Loveday on 28 February 1942. He was transferred to the Moorook West Wood Camp on 1 March 1943, and then to the Woolenook Wood Camp on 29 January 1944. He was admitted to the 64 Australian Camp Hospital for gastric carcinoma on 25 April 1945, and transferred to the 121 Australian General Hospital on 3 May 1945.
