Extra information: | Deduced from information in Rikai: A Guide To the Japanese War Cemetery, and confirmed by local sources, including the Memorial Stone in the Cowra Japanese War Cemetery, this grave belongs to one of the 8 Japanese airmen from an aircraft lost over Darwin on 6 July 1943. 3 unidentified remains were recovered. The 8 Japanese airmen were: Takeo Ando, Jitsuo Enatsu, Kenji Fujinaga, Suekichi Ikezaki, Masao Kobayashi, Takanori Miyagi, Sakae Taguchi and Shiro Wada. There is a plaque on a Memorial Stone with the above mentioned names in the Cowra Japanese War Cemetery. This Memorial stone can be found in the northern side of Section A Row 1 (cemetery plot location) or on the northern side of Section C, row QD of the cemetery map provided by the Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG). According to the OAWG burial records, this Unknown Japanese Airman was first buried in Hay, however this appears to be an error, as all other Unknown Japanese Airmen were first buried in Berrimah. |
